Shulman & Hill Reducing Drunk Driving in Our Community Scholarship

Drunk driving remains a prevalent problem throughout the United States, especially on and near college campuses. The Manhattan drunk driving accident lawyers with Shulman & Hill Injury Lawyers want incoming college students to think carefully about what steps they can take to reduce the number of drunk drivers on the road.

The Reducing Drunk Driving in Our Community Scholarship promises $2,500 to a student who can create an informative video discussing different strategies designed to reduce drunk driving in at-risk communities. 

Students have until September 30, 2026, to complete their applications.

Who Is Eligible? 

Shulman & Hill Injury Lawyers invites all undergraduate and graduate students who meet the qualifying criteria to apply for the Reducing Drunk Driving in Our Community Scholarship. The firm requires that applicants attend an accredited university, college, trade school, or graduate school in the United States to qualify.

Incoming freshmen who’ve been accepted to a qualifying institution can apply. 

Students must also agree to the scholarship’s terms and conditions and submit complete application packets. Unfortunately, an incomplete application packet may result in an applicant’s removal from the applicant pool.

How Do I Apply? 

To apply for the Reducing Drunk Driving in Our Community Scholarship, please create a video less than three minutes long answering the prompt below. Then, upload that .mp4 as an unlisted video on YouTube and share the link through the application form on this page.

Double-check the application form and make sure all of your information is accurate and that you’ve included your link before submitting your application for consideration.

Scholarship Video Topic

To apply for the Reducing Drunk Driving in Our Community Scholarship, please create a video no more than three minutes long discussing what courses of action students can take to discourage drunk driving in their communities.

Applicants should record their videos in well-lit areas while holding their recording device as still as possible. The scholarship selection committee asks that students begin or end their videos by stating their full name and the name of the Shulman & Hill Reducing Drunk Driving in Our Community Scholarship.

Students who use sources to round out their videos should include a list of those sources in the credits of their video. The team also asks that students only use copyright-free content to supplement their scripts.

Editing and AI

Shulman & Hill Injury Lawyers wants to reward students for their individual creativity and originality. As such, please do not use AI to create a video for the Reducing Drunk Driving in Our Community Scholarship. Students who inappropriately use AI to generate fake characters or modify a speaker’s voice will have their applications disqualified.

Students can use media editing tools to add visual interest to their videos. However, the scholarship selection committee will not choose a winner based on a student’s editing ability.

Application Deadline

Shulman & Hill Injury Lawyers will stop accepting applications for the Reducing Drunk Driving in Our Community Scholarship on September 30, 2026. The team will not consider applications submitted after this deadline passes. 

Once the submission period closes, the team may take up to three months to choose its scholarship winner. Please do not contact Shulman & Hill Injury Lawyers during this time. The team cannot answer questions about the status of a student’s application.

Terms and Conditions

All applicants to this scholarship must meet the eligibility requirements as laid out on the scholarship application page, including: 

  • Applicant must be enrolled at a college, trade school, university, or graduate school
  • Applicant must be at least 18 years old at the time of enrollment
  • Applicant must have residency in the United States
  • Applicant must be in good academic standing
  • Applicant must submit some personal information, including name, contact information, and academic information
  • Applicant must author an original video on the scholarship topic provided

Anyone who meets the following conditions is NOT eligible to apply: 

  • Employees or children of employees of Shulman & Hill Injury Lawyers
  • Past recipients of the Reducing Drunk Driving in Our Community Scholarship
  • Applicants who are unable/unwilling to be interviewed by a representative of Shulman & Hill Injury Lawyers, if they were to be awarded a scholarship
  • Applicants who submit the same video for multiple scholarships or for multiple years in a row

Selection & Award Notification Process

The scholarship selection committee with Shulman & Hill Injury Lawyers carefully considers every application it receives. The team wants students to express original ideas about the nature of drunk driving and what steps they can take to limit the danger that drunk drivers present to their communities.

The team will choose its winner based on the quality of that student’s ideas and adherence to the scholarship’s prompt. Age, race, religion, gender, national origin, familial status, or other protected classes will have no influence on the committee’s decision.

The team will communicate with its winning student upon their selection. Once the winner accepts the scholarship, the team will post a blog post and press release about them on the firm’s website.
